When to Consider Air Handler Replacement

The air handler is the indoor component of a central split HVAC system. It contains the blower motor, evaporator coil, and controls that move conditioned air through your ductwork, while the outdoor condenser releases heat from the refrigerant.

A failed blower motor, damaged evaporator coil, faulty control component, or deteriorating cabinet doesn’t automatically require replacement. We assess the indoor equipment before recommending a repair, air handler replacement, or broader system change.

Replacement may offer better long-term value when you notice:

• Frequent repairs or repair costs approaching half the price of a new system.
• Rising energy bills without another clear cause.
• Uneven cooling or persistent hot spots.
