Air Masters of Tampa Bay, a twenty five year old company with decades of success is located in Historic Seminole Heights. President Beverly Bosley is one of Seven Female licensed Mechanical Contractors in the United States. As a business owner that has obtained a Mechanical Contracting License, it allows us to do things beyond just air conditioning work.
At the ripe young age of 19, Beverly received her big break. Her father, then president of Air Masters of Tampa Bay, had purchased Bayside Builders to add to the existing Air Masters organization. John De Young needed additional office help and hired young Beverly as a receptionist. Up until this point, she had only worked for the family business during her summer breaks while attending Hillsborough High School in Tampa, Florida. Office Manager Kris Roos, was an excellent teacher, and did not show her any favoritism because of the family ties. Kris never treated her as the “boss’s daughter” and Beverly had to earn every promotion she ever received.
Beverly organizes her day by prioritizing what needs to be done first. A large portion of the company’s success is derived from meeting deadlines. In a normal day, Beverly will keep track of which deadlines are approaching, and structure her day accordingly. Visualization helps Beverly keep a positive attitude and to keep stress at a minimum. “I take it all one day at a time” is Beverly’s favorite mantra.
One of the challenges in this industry is that it is still predominately male dominated. The "good old boys" mentality is still alive and well. While traveling on business trips Beverly has often encountered colleagues that assume her husband is the one in the air conditioning business. To help combat this, Beverly spends a larger portion of time with these types of clients in order for them to gain her trust and value her experience level. Usually the only time a woman is in this industry it is alongside her husband, or in a more supporting type role. The majority of male candidates for the Mechanical Contracting License test fail to pass the test or have to take it numerous times.
Air Masters of Tampa Bay is in the process of receiving their Minority owned Business Status. They have submitted the appropriate applications and are waiting for it to be approved.
Beverly is active in her community and with her children. She and Her husband Rick have five children Michelle, Logan, Miranda, Noah and Orion.
